Design of an Autonomous Quadrotor UAV for Urban Search and Rescue

    Get PDF
Abstract This project entailed design and testing of an indoor quadrotor UAV capable of autonomous take-off, landing, and path finding. The propulsion system produces 1500g of thrust at 46% throttle using 7 propellers, minimizing craft size, but allowing for sufficient payload to carry a LIDAR, a CMOS camera, and rangefinders. These sensors are interfaced to an Overo processor, which sends high-level commands to a low-level flight controller, the HoverflyPro. Flight tests were conducted which demonstrated flight control and sensor operation

This report assesses the tourism industry in Laem Khruat, a rural village in the Krabi Province of Thailand that was affected by the 2004 tsunami. We investigated methods of incorporating the principles of ecotourism into the village\u27s tourism practices. We concentrated on three issues affecting the village: waste disposal, tourism marketing, and water based tourism transportation. We concluded that an expanded garbage bank program, new brochures and a website are necessary for further ecotourism development. We also concluded that a kayak with a Mirage drive pedal system is effective for ecotourism

Homophobia and perceptions of people with AIDS

    No full text
The present research specifically assessed the roles of homophobia, gender, means of AIDS transmission, and sexual orientation on attitudes toward people with AIDS. Two hundred participants were asked to read 1 of 8 fictional newspaper articles, each of which described a person with AIDS (PWA). PWA descriptions varied in terms of gender, sexual orientation, and mode of AIDS transmission. Attitudes were measured with a multidimensional experimental questionnaire which assessed disrespect and blame toward PWAs. Results found that homophobic attitudes are related to negative perceptions of PWAs. Additionally, findings supported the proposition that generally, more negative attitudes toward PWAs are associated with sexual, as opposed to medical transmission. Men were significantly more disrespectful and blaming than were women
